The Kirinyaga County Assembly has embarked on the vetting of Chief Officers to fill up the vacant spaces at the area County Administration.
This comes head over heels after a recent such vetting of the 10 CECMs who have since been appointed to head various dockets.
Edward Nyaga who has been nominated the Chief Officer for Finance this afternoon faced the Assembly Committee on Finance and Economic Planning .
Through the Committee Chairman and Nyangati Ward MCA Kenneth Ndambiri , the nominee assured the panelist his main agenda if appointed will be to end the thorny pending Bills .
Nyaga said the Bills stood at Sh 1.5 billion but upon a forensic audit by the Auditor General only Sh 700 million was found to be genuine .
The nominee however stressed that this amount was inherited from the first Devolution Regime while the second regime was hesitant to commit itself and pay the questionable and staggering bills.

“I now have an elaborate plan on how to pay these bills within the next here years and have this mater come to a rest and I will initially clear any bill not exceeding Sh 1 million in that order ,to the end,”he said.
On revenue collection, Nyaga told the Committee if given the high profile job, he would appoint an Accountant to deal with the day to day activities of revenue.
Added the nominee “the accountant will be able to monitor any proceeds collected by our staffers at any given moment since the process is almost automated now”.
Presently even to identify a genuine County Revenue Collector is an issue but Nyaga has promised to address the matter by having special identifications on all staffers attached to curb any loophole and ensure all the proceeds went to our coffers.
