Career banker blessed to run for the Kirinyaga Senatorial seat
Peter Kathanga (center in god father is being introduced to the Kirinyaga Council of Elders Chairman Harrison Ndambiri upon being blessed by his parents to vie for the local senatorial seat this afternoon during a brief ceremony held at his Kiamiciri home.
A career banker Peter Kathanga has received blessings from his family and Elders from Gichugu Constituency to vie for the Kirinyaga Senatorial seat.
Upon being blessed by his aging father and former area MP Bernard Kathanga , the young Kathanga was handed over to the area Council of Elders who also blessed him using the prescribed ritual.
The ritual was conducted by Senior Elder Erasto Njeru at the contender’s Kiamiciri home within Kabare Ward.
Also to bless him were local Maendeleo ya Wanawake Organisation members led by their chairperson Dayana Gicaiyia .
Kathanga who sat alongside his wife at the far end of the high table watched cheerfully as his son got the attention and blessings to seek to lead the county in the new capacity .
“As a family we give you our blessings to proceed and venture into the world of politics as you seek to lead this great county in an over sighting capacity ,” the father said.
During the brief ceremony the youthful Kathanga said he had a proven track record from the leading financial institutions in the country where he had served at the managerial levels .
Some of the said institutions were the Coopera8ve Bank of Kenya , the Cooperative Insurance Company (CIC), the KPCU and KCB group.
Kathanga was received by the sub-county Council of Elders chairman who will later present him to the County Council of Elders at the Riagitigu shrine where he will also be confirmed as one of their own after the required ritual.
The County Council of Elders chairman Harrison Ndambiri who was present during today’s ceremony said he will start making the necessary arrangements to have Kathanga coroneted as a Council Member.
“After we coronate Kathanga as an Elder we will then provide him with the relevant regalia and set him free to go and battle it out with other contenders for the seat ,”Ndambiri said.
Kathanga on his part said having worked and extensively travelled far and wide had what it takes to lead as a Senator .
“I have establshed strong networks both locally and internationally especially with leading banks as well persons of interest who are more than willing to assist our county grow to greater heights of prosperity ,”he said.
Ndambiri is now trying to set the big day for Kathanga which should be earlier tha later so as to enable the contender work out his campaign strategy.
