
Jubilee official mourns Kibaki

Following the demise of former President Mwai Kibaki yesterday , various leaders in Kirinyaga County have mourned his demise .
County Jubilee chairman Murithi Kangara recalled Kibaki’s hey days as the leader of the official opposition when the national politics reached fever pitch and ‘tasty’.
He described him as the most focused , determined and result oriented leader the county has ever had since Independence.
Speaking to the media at the Sun City resort Sagana, Kangara also recalled how Kibaki came up with infrastructural development which moved the county the level of undeveloped to a developing country .
He also recalled how the politics of the day become most vibrant after Kibaki become the DP’s presidential candidate for three consecutive terms out of which he was elected the third president .
Kangara said he served as then Kirinyaga district (now County ) DP organising Secretary where the party became so popular among the residents .
“The DP became so popular in Kirinyaga at the time such that a Civic Leader who had long died and buried prompting a by- election where the deceased’s brother was elected on this ticket ,”he said.
He said having been a die- hard DP member , he was privileged to be closer to Kibaki and learnt many of his leadership qualities and aspects .
Also to mourn Kibaki was his former State House Comptroller Matere Keriri who told the Mountain Times on phone how he was shocked by the news of his former bosses’ demise .
“I was not only shocked but dismayed by the death of my teacher, confidant , boss and a true fried , “he said .
At the same time Kangara has touted Narc- Kenya leader Martha Karua to be Azimio’s presidential running mate .
Karua , the official added , stands the most suitable leader to deputise Raila Odinga given her long experience and consistence in fighting corruption.
