“We have had a fruitful discussion with elders drawn from all the ten counties where we unanimously agreed to heed to President Kenyatta’s guidance. “the CS  said .

Added  Munya “by listening to their wishes, the elders seem to  have been keen on watching the president’s body language and we can conclusively say at this point that both parties seem to be in agreement,”

He said that as the region’s leaders, their role shall be to deliver the message to the people as from early next year to ensure that the area delivered  a commanding number of votes in the  polls.

Munya  at the same time took a swipe at his political rivals who  have been attacking civil servants who are engaging in politics.

“You cannot intimidate us by telling us that we cannot play politics. I have been in politics for a long time and no one holds the monopoly of engagement as far as the 2022 general elections are concerned. “he fumed .

The CS maintained that president  Kenyatta shall continue being the region’s political supremo and shall have a big role in shaping next year’s elections outcome  much as he shall retire from presidency.

His sentiments were echoed by  Kibicho who termed president Kenyatta ‘s position as the region kingpin as standard.

“His position is standard and everything he orders us to do, we shall dutifully do and thereafter ask the reason for doing it and ,if he orders us to jump ,we shall do so and then get to know the reason for doing it afterwards ,” he said .

The PS underscored the importance of the region’s readiness before August ,2022 so as to contribute in giving the nation accountable leaders.

“We need to put our house in order early enough so that our people will not vote blindly. As a result,we need from January to start  sensitizing  them on the need to ask the right questions to politicians who are begging them for their votes.”the no nonsense PS  told the media at the  Abai hotel in Kagio town.

The PS also hailed the drive saying it shall ensure that the region  will  speak in one voice before the 2022 general elections and noted  that some politicians had worked hard to see to it that both Mt Kenya east and Mt Kenya west voted independently so as to divide the regional  votes.

On his part Kirinyaga Jubilee Party Chairman  Muriithi Kang’ara said any presidential candidate courting Mt Kenya region should ensure that his running mate shall hail from the area.

“This is a rich vote region and we have to ensure that whoever wants our votes shall work with us through the position of a deputy president. We are glad that president Kenyatta is still politically active and is committed to negotiate on behalf of the well-being of the region as far as next year’s election is concerned.”

The official further praised President Kenyatta for assuring the nation that BBI shall one day be realized despite being declared an illegal process by the court and  praised the initiative saying it shall help in striking equality in national resource allocation and enable equal representation .
