Leaders urge residents to be peaceful on Mashujaa Day
Leaders in Kirinyaga County have urged locals to ensure they did not misbehave but exhibit the highest degree of discipline during the forthcoming Mashujaa Day celebrations.
Briefing the Media at the Sifa Gardens after a meeting last evening the leaders asked the locals to observe peace before during and after the celebrations which will be held this time at the Wanguru stadium , Mwea .
Led by the Infrastructure Principal Secretary Professor Mwangi Maringa, the leaders who included present and former ones from the area also resolved to continue working together as one united team for the sake of the county.
“We have all agreed local and national unity was paramount and greater to any individual hence shelving our personal interests and ambitions for the sake of our beloved County, “Maringa said.
Others leaders included the PS Interior Karanja Kibicho , Governor Anne Waiguru, area Woman Representative Wangui Ngirici and Narc- kenya’s Martha Karua.
Gichugu MP Gichimu Githinji and his Kirinyaga Central Munene Wambugu as well as Mwea’s Kabinga Wachira attended the meeting.
Also present were two former Mwea MPs Peter Gitau and Alfred Nderitu and his Ndia counterpart Stephen Ngari .
Both Waiguru and Kibicho told the locals the Fete being the last one under the Jubilee administration will be very special not only to the residents but the entire country .
“The whole nation will be watching how we conducted ourselves in front of the Head of State and it’s my hope decorum and highest degree of discipline will prevail, “Waiguru said.
The leaders also came up with a joint memorandum which will be presented to President Uhuru Kenyatta and containing the needs the locals would wish to be addressed at that level.
Kibicho on his part said this was the time to show the nation that Kirinyaga was more united than ever to disapprove those prophets of doom who always wished to see a chaotic people.
