Mashujaa Day preparations

Preparations for this year ' s Mashujaa Day celebrations are in top gear with construction works of an ultra modern Wanguru stadium  being at 80 per cent .
The 10,000 capacity  facility in Mwea will be the venue for the celebrations .
According to the National Celebrations Committee chairman Karanja Kibicho only 3000 people will be allowed into the venue due to the  required strict covid protocols.
"We will allow 2000 locals to be at the stadium on the material day while the remaining 1000 will comprise of dignitaries from outside Kirinyaga county ,"Kibicho told the media at the venue yesterday .
Kibicho who also doubles as the Interior Principal Secretary further reminded locals not to crowd within and around the stadium due to security and covid restrictions requirements.
He directed that all those residents and other Kenyans who will not be included in the  3000  list  will have to watch the event through their television screens at their respective homes.
" There will also not be any  other such celebrations in the county headquarters as had been the case before as it will be the only one in Mwea where the Head of Sate will address the nation from," he stressed.
Accompanied by several of his colleagues when they inspected the ongoing construction of the facility,Kibicho assured Kenyans everything was moving on as scheduled.
"We expect the contractor to move out of this site by the Fith of next month while a handing over celemony will follow on the ninth ,in readiness for the fete ,"he said.
It also emerged the rehearsals for fete will start on the same Oct 5 and continue up to the last few days .
Kibicho who addressed the  media after a lengthy meeting  at the venue also disclosed that all the landing sites both in  Mwea and Kerugoya had been identified and appropriately marked for the purpose 
Also going on in the area is the improvement of roads and electrification of the locals streets.
" Further all the hotels where the guests will spend their nights have been identified  and owners  briefed accordingly
