
Ngirici petitions against Waiguru’s win
Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat petitioner Wangui Ngirici at a past function within the county . She has gone to court seeking to have Governor Anne Waiguru\s win annulled over alleged massive fraud , bribery and forgery among others during the August 9 general elections .
Outgoing Kirinyaga Woman Representative Wangui Ngirici has petitioned against the gubernatorial win of Anne Waiguru seeking to have it nullified .
The petition number EOO1/22, was filed yesterday at the Kerugoya High Court through a Nairobi based law firm .
Waiguru garnered 113,088 votes during the crowded election and was defending her seat in order to go for a second term.
Ngirici who came second (105,677 votes)during the August 8 gubernatorial elections has listed various grounds in support of her petition with the IEBC being the first respondent .
The petitioner has sued jointly with her running mate Eliud Wanjau while Waiguru and her running mate Wachira Githanda are named as the second and third respondents.
Other grounds cited by the petitioner include alleged opaqueness in the transmission of the Form 37 A , fraud electoral process , voter bribery ,lack of transparency in the entire process, high voter turnout in Gichugu and alleged forgery of petitioners agent signatures .
The petition was filled 26 days after the general elections while Waiguru is to face the same dilemma she was subjected to in 2017 by Martha Karua who claimed her (karua’s) victory was stolen by the governor .
Karua’s petition was however dismissed by the then Kerugoya Judge Lucy Gitari for lack of evidence and witnesses who were not able to prove their evidenced.
The petitioner quit UDA after Waiguru crossed over from Jubilee to Ruto’s party over what she termed as unfair treatment within the party.
Others who were in the race include Peter Njuguna of Safina, who got 10,166 votes. Silvanus Ndau, KADU Asili, 532, Mureithi Kagai NARC Kenya, 1751 , Joseph Ndathi of The Service Party polled 3837 , while Peter Ireri (ANC) garnered 2132 votes.
Jane Gitonga who was the IEBCs Kirinyaga County returning officer declared Waiguru as the winner of the August 8 general elections and handed over the certificate Waiguru .
