PS Kibicho tournament comes to an end

Interior PS Karanja Kibicho being introduced to on eof the five  teams which participated in  the  Kirinyaga Supper League which ended at Gathuthini primary schools grounds yesterday  and where Ngaru FC carried the day

A football tournament started   and sponsored by the Interior PS Karanja Kbicho has come to an end with Ngaru FC emerging victorious .

Wazito FC from Gichugu ,Gathumbu FC from Ndia and Intercity FC from Mwea emerged numbers  2, 3 and 4 respectively .

The tournament , according to its organisers is a  community  program for Kirinyaga County of which Kibicho is its patron

Ngaru took home a Cash award of Sh 500,000  besides the  Eng Dr Karanja Kibicho trophy  after flooring four other teams which had reached the semifinals.

The PS Karanja Kibicho cup which was won by Ngaru FC from Kirinyaga Sentral after a grueling match at Gathuthini primary grounds yesterday  while the league ended with five teams out of the others that were eliminated along  the  way

The   tournament took place at Gathuthini primary school grounds in Kirinyaga West Sub County and which attracted a mammoth crowd never seen  in the area before .

This inaugural tournament had a total of 16 teams from all the four sub- counties in the area .

Wzito took home with them a cash prizes kf sh 250,000  while  Gathumbu from Ndia bagged Sh 100,000 cash award .Each of these teams also received braded  sets of soccer uniform.

Consequently Kibicho announced for the commencement of another league which commences tomorrow and run up to the end of May.

Interior PS Karanja Kbicho and the Kirinyaga County Commissioner Jim Njoka when they met one of the five teams which reached the Kibicho Super League finals before Ngaru emerged victorious and got a Sh 500,000 cash award from Kibicho at the Gathuthini primary school, grounds yesterday 

He  tasked the Kirinyaga County Commissioner Jim Njoka to ensure teams from the grassroots participated .

“Let us have as many as 500 teams if possible in order for the tournament to be sustained up May where teams at the grassroots and which had never had such an opportunity can take part,”he said.

Kibicho promised  that the same cash  prizes will be up for grabs by the teams which will emerge victorious during the second tournament .

Said Kibicho as he handed over the cash awards “ as a leader in  this community am committed to the empowerment of the Youth in various sectors . My support for  sporting  activities  will ensure provision of the necessary physical and financial support to help them dedicate  themselves to sport as an alternative career path for both sportsmen and women “.

The program will also include Athletics, volley ball netball  basketball and any other related discipline .
