The Gichugu Parliamentary aspirant Dr Njagi Makanga has sponsored 300 students for various technical courses from the entire constituency.
The youths both boys and girls who had been desperate to access such training due to their poor backgrounds will now form a data bank through where those seeking for their expertise can access them.

Speaking when he attended the graduation ceremony for the first lot of 300 students yesterday, Makanga said so far he had spent Sh 30 million to mount the courses, hire instructors ,training equipment and the premises within Kianyaga market.
The aspirant also promised the students that the first top ten in the final examination will secure jobs abroad courtesy of him and his development partners.
“What I have seen during the show casing of your skills leaves me with no doubt that you will among the other professionals in the country ,” he said.
Njagi said if only the many unemployed youths in the country could be equipped with technical skills , the huge deficit in the labour market could be reduced significantly.

The first bunch of 300 such students have since been enrolled so far while the second lot of 400 is due soon.
“Once we equip these youths with the skills they require this will translate to multiplication of skills and expertise as they also endeavor to train or employ others.
The training is being undertaken at the Dr Njagi Makanga Training Centre in Kianyaga market and admission is currently limited to youths from Gichugu where he is seeking to become the next area MP.
The courses conducted in conjunction with the Vera Technical Training Institute include plumbing, cookery, hair dressing, hospitality , event organizing and management as well as drss making among others.

The sponsor has since assured those who did not benefit at the onset of the launching should not worry as the second lot of 400 students will soon be selected .
