Road construction commissioned

Gichugu MP Gichimu Githinji has  commissioned   the long waited construction of the 53 kilometer  road that will  connect all the Five Wards in the area .

The first time Legislator said although the construction works had been delayed due to certain logistical issues which have since  been resolved .

He told the Chinese   Stecho  contractors  to ensure he worked closely with all those  residents where the road passes through  and create a harmonious relationship for the rapid  implementation of the project .

The sh 2 billion  project will take about three  years to complete according to the site engineer Muchiri.

Muchiri said the works will also involve the construction of Nyamindi river bridge which is located on a ravine which is covered by  continuous deep  rocky terrain.

The engineer however  said having had a similar assignment on the upper   side  of the constituency where the road connects Kithure market  with Kibugu  area in  the neighboring  Embu County  his company has what it takes to complete the task in hand .

Locals at the launch hailed  their leader for living to his pre – election campaign   promise.

There were jubilations and ululations when the MP ignited one of the heavy machineries the contractor has delivered  to the site in readiness for the commencement of  the  civil works.

On the other hand the MP  said once completed , the road will open up the highly agricultural productive area to the outside world.

“Our farmers whose fresh produced don’t get to the market on time  and end up perishing  due to the   poor road  infrastructure will no longer suffer the consequence again once the project is completed , “Githinji said .

The road  starts at PI ,  past Njukiini forest, Mbiri  market then to Kiamutugu  town where it will connect with the Kianyaga – Kithure road which was constructed in a record 8 months by the same contractor .

It will then  proceed to Mushagara , Karumandi market and head to Kamweti shopping Centre .

The other road to be tarmacked to cover the 65 km in the area is KTI- Kiamiciri, Ithareini , Gatunguru, Kiangombe , Kianguenyi  within Kabare Ward  while Kirigu- Kagongo – Kianyaga –Karumandi  in Baragwe and Karumandi Wards is also factored.
