Teacher charged with attempted murder

A teacher said to have been involved in a love triangle with his female and male colleagues has been charged in court with attempted murder. By

Timothy Musembi Mutie who denied committing the offence appeared before the Wanguru Senior Resident Magistrate M.Kivuti  yesterday.

Mutie denied that on March   3    at Karoti Girls High School, Mwea  East Sub-County he unlawfuly attempted  to murder his colleague Alphonse Orina  Omwange  by cutting him with a panga on the head and both hands .

The court ordered that Mutie who was unrepresented  be realised  on a bond of Sh 100,000 with a surety of same amount .

The magistrate further directed that  Mutie’s  criminal case  be    mentioned on March 17  before a hearing date  could be set .

Meanwhile Omwenga was reported to be still recuperating at a private health  care  facility in Ngurubani town following the 11.30 Am ordeal on the material day .

It was claimed that on the material day Mutie  stormed into the school staff room  during the tea break while armed with a panga he had hidden in his coat .

He then sat  inside the staff room where he found  the victim marking  some examination papers  as his colleagues  started to stream out  after taking their tea.

He sat still  until only the victim and another teacher were left in the room and without wasting time seized the opportunity and attacked  Mutie who was caught off guard .

As he tried to defend himself from the assailant , Mutie  sustained serious had and both hand injuries .

The screams  from the victim brought learning at the densly populated school (1000 plus students ), to a stand still  .

The attacker then fled from the scene , and jumped over the gate before he hid the weapon  before stopping a boda boda which  he directed the rider to take him to a nearby Chief’s camp at Kimbimbi  market .

Mutie was then formerly arrested and driven to Wanguru ploice  station and locked in until  yesterday when he was charged with the serious offence.

The female trainee  teacher said to have been involved in a love affair between the two male colleagues has since been ordered out of the school over the shame.

It was not clear if Kenyatta University where the woman was on her teaching practice would take her to another school  to complete her  internship.

The  cute woman from the Embu community  is said to  have irresistible beauty  which no man can afford  not to try .

The  three actors therefore logically makes the matter a real  love  triangle since three diverse communities are involved .

Mutie’s vehicle which he had left parked within the school compound has since been  towed from the premises while  he will spend the weekend in custody after he failed to raise the bond .
