
Technology ‘brings’two siblings to the funeral of their sister

Due to the covid -19 restrictions across the world , two siblings living in America and South Africa respectively appeared on the screens and actively participated at the burial ceremony of their sister at Kiamwenja market, Kirinyaga County.

Mourners were surprised to see Professor Eng Maina Maringa read his sisters eulogy through Zoom as his family sat by his side at their residence in South Africa.
Betty Muthoni Maringa who lives in the Unites States of America broke into tears as she paid glowing tribute to her elder sister, mentor and role model Margaret Wamuyu through the same technology which made her presence at the funeral ceremony be felt by the mourners though many miles away.
Pall bearers carying the casket containing the remains of fomer Catholic University Law Don Margaret Wamuyu to her final resting place at her father's home at Kiamwenja market ,Kirinyaga County.
Wamuyu died recently after a battle with cancer according to Muthoni in her moving tribute which left mourners present having grasped the true picture of the lives and times deceased .
The deceased was a renowned law scholar and by the time of her demise she was teaching law at the Catholic University in Nairobi.
Born in 1956 Wamuyu spent her early life in Embu and Kerugoya towns and finally Muthaiga Estates.
She studied law at the Nairobi University and later proceeded to the Kenya school of law after which she was admitted to the Bar , where she would later be posted to the Attorney General’s Office.
Due to her high degree of competence in legal matters she rose to the position of Principal State Counsel at the Attorney General’s Office before undertaking studies in for a Legum Magister degree in Commercial law at the Washington University.
She hence became the first Commercial lawyer in the country and also served as the Advisory Council of the Catholic Bishop of Muranga District .Diocese .

Wamuyu would later be appointed tom various senior positions in the government where she served with total dedication until in 1990 when she left for America to join CareFirst BlueCross Blue Shield company in Mary land a company she worked with until her return home in 2012 .
Upon her return home, Wamuyu joined Inooro University and as a lecturer in law but quickly moved to the Catholic University where she taught law until her demise on Jan 13 .
In her tribute, Muthoni described the deceased as diligent, meticulous and one with an eye for detail.

Wamuyu’s working life according to the eulogy exemplified modesty, civility honesty and service to all she met .
To that end , this was attested by the big number of high raking government officials who attended the ceremony conducted by a Catholic Priest since she was an ardent catholic faithful .
The litany of those present was led by Governor Anne Waiguru, Internal PS Eng Dr Karanja Kibicho,his Maritine colleague Nancy Karigithu, Rtd Gen Gordon Kihalagwa of the Public Works,Mary Kimonye of the Public Service,Dr. Eng Joseph Njoroge , Energy,Solomon Kitungu and Ps Charles Hinga for Housing and urban development, transport,Senator Charles Kibiru,Woman Representative Wangui Ngirichi,Mwea MP Kabinga Wachira and his Kirinyaga Central counterpart Munene Wambugu .
Ax battery of those from the State Department of Infrastructure was also present led by Lenard Lepmai
Wamuyu who was the first born child of Mr and Mrs Raphael Maringa who was a long serving senior employee of the defunct Kirinyaga County Council and a dear sister to Professor Mwangi Maringa the PS for infrastructure.
