
The construction of a Sh 2 billion road is commissioned in Gichugu
Commissioner Andrew Muriithi of the Public Service Commission of Kenya flags of the launch of the Sh 2 billion PIAI - Mbiri - Kiautugu road at Mbiri market this morning in Kirinyaga East Sub- County.
The government has commissioned a Sh 2 billion construction works of a road network covering various sections of Kirinyaga East Sub-County .
The PIAI – Njukiini - Mbiri- Kiamutugu- Mucagara- Karumandi –Kagongo – KTI- Ithareini- Kiangombe – Kianguenyi road was commissioned this morning at a colorful ceremony held at Mbiri Market .
The PS for Infrastructure Professor Mwangi Maringa and other senior government officers were at hand to launch the project.
Out of the Sh 2 billion , Sh 800 million will benefit the local community through supply of raw materials , while sh 300 million will go to the and provision of labour by the same locals.

Maringa said the contractor had been well briefed and agreed to fully comply with the 800 million worth of material supply requirement .
Locals said they were pleased with the move by the government and expressed hope that it will hold water to the completion of the project.
During the launch , local Jubilee candidates for various elective positions were in attendance led by the gubernatorial candidate Charles Kibiru and his running mate Peter Ndambiri.
Woman Representative candidate Shujaa Rose Wachira and the area Senatorial contender Daniel Karaba and the Gichugu Parliamentary candidate Njogu Barua were also present to witness the ceremony.
Kibiru urged the locals to ensure they voted Jubilee candidates all though short of which they would be consigned to political cold since they will not be in the next government.

“I must plead with you to be very careful on those who come to sweet talk you promising ‘heaven and earth’ while fully aware they were only making pledges on what they could not deliver ,”Kibiru said.
Added Kibiru ‘’ I cannot afford to see my good people of Kirinyaga being alienated from the forthcoming Azimio government under the leadership of Raila Odinga after being misled by self-seekers,”.
